FAQ’s

  • How long will it take to clean my oven?
  • About 2 hours for a single oven and upto 6-7 hours for a full range and gas hob. If any one tells you they can do the job in less time then they are cutting corners or only cleaning the easily visible baked on grease.

  • What is the best heavy duty oven cleaner chemical?
  • These fall into the two categories of caustic and biological cleaning solutions. For our professional oven cleaning service we use mainly biological cleaning agents and heat to soften the burnt on carbon and over cooked food. We would recommend NOT using caustic chemicals for both environmental, personal safety reasons as well as avoiding damaging your oven.

  • How to clean a rangemaster oven?
  • The enamel is easy to clean as are the oven shelves. The self cleaning panels can be a problem if clogged with grease. The only manufacturer recommended way of cleaning these is to burn off the grease and carbon to ash by leaving the oven on high heat.

  • Can i use my cooker straight away when you have finished cleaning it?
  • Yes- we leave everything clean, rinsed, dried and polished. Free standing gas cooker

  • How to clean oven door glass?
  • Basically only use a non-scratch scouring pad and check if you have LOW-E film coated glass. For more information see this article.

  • What is the best cleaner for oven racks?
  • Oven racks and shelves can be easily removed and placed in a sealed bin liner with a variety of cleaning solutions and left over night to soak without drying out. Dissolved dishwasher tablets work well but be careful and use gloves and avoid contact with skin or eyes. Simply wipe off the dirt, rinse and dry. This works well as long as the burnt on grease and carbon isn’t too thick. Our professional method for rack cleaning uses heat and a biological solution to remove 100% the dirt everytime.

  • What is the best way to keep my oven clean?
  • Teflon coated oven floor liners are great at keeping your oven clean. See the link above for more information.

  • Can you steam clean a dirty oven?
  • Commercial oven cleaners tend avoid this for several reasons. Firstly it takes time to work properly, a few hours or over night. You can do this yourself with a bowl of diluted vinegar. Secondly, hand held steamer is too messy and ineffective.

  • How do i remove and clean between the glass of an oven door?
  • Removing an oven door is usually pretty simple although there are many different mechanisms for different ovens. The user manual should explain this process. Some oven door glass sheets easily slide out from above, others have a removable retainer that hold them in. Many Smeg ovens have an attachment glued onto the glass which has to be popped off the main door, be very careful with these! Some glass is only toughened and heat treated on one side so putting it back the wrong way could lead to the glass shattering.

  • What is Low-E oven door glass?
  • This is a type of glass with a heat reflective film coating. Care must be taken when cleaning to avoid scratching the film.

  • How to keep my grill tray clean?
  • Using a heavy-duty, non-stick , PTFE-coated, liner will catch any splashes or dripped fat. Heat resistant to 260 degrees, oven, freezer and microwave proof. Simply clean in the sink or in the dishwasher, for up to five years of constant use. We sell these liners.

  • How much does it cost to clean an oven?
  • Most local oven cleaners charge around the same sort of price (within 15%) for the same sort of job. Every now and again, usually around Christmas, someone will pop up on Facebook offering ‘oven cleans’ for £15-£20 but these sort of ‘wipe around’ cleaning jobs are pretty poor in comparison to a professional job. Also the risk of damaging an oven is quite high if the domestic cleaner hasn’t had proper training.

  • We recommend Astonish products, based on our experience of using them.

  • Local house, maid and domestic cleaners to clean my oven

  • Do you use environmentally friendly oven cleaner?
  • Yes, we need no disposal license for dangerous chemicals. There are some types of biological septic tanks and cess pits that we prefer not to put our used cleaning solution into, just to be on the safe side.

  • There are several types of self cleaning ovens, check out our article to find out which type you have and how it works here.

  • How to clean burnt on dirt from my glass hob?
  • Induction hobs don’t tend to have burnt on dirt as they transfer heat directly to the pan above. Halogen hobs get hot and rings of burnt on carbon appear around the edge of the element on the glass. 95% of these marks can be easily removed with a razor blade. The last 5% can be removed with a ceramic hob cleaning cream. To buy the razors and blade holder plus cleaning cream will cost around £12 or WE CLEAN GLASS HOBS FOR FREE.

  • Are you an oven repairs service and will cleaning my oven make it work properly?
  • No, we don’t have electrical repair certification. Please don’t think that having your oven cleaned will make it work again. This would be like taking your car to a car wash in the hope of fixing the head gasket.

  • My oven is smoking will cleaning fix this?
  • Usually a smoking oven is caused by fat or grease burning off the heater elements. We don’t touch the elements, thermostat or other electrical components of your oven. We clean the internal enamel body, racks and shelves, fan, doors, glass and control panel and knobs. The only way to clean your elements is to burn off the dirt while taking care to keeps pets away from the smoke and making sure a fire doesn’t occur (don’t have the element on full heat). The dirt will turn to a thin coating of harmless white ash.
